On the Commons (formerly Tomales Bay Institute) is a network of citizens and organizations exploring new ways to achieve social justice, environmental harmony and democratic participation at all levels of society.

Brook Sarson claims to not be a business person. Nor a plumber, or a landscape architect, for that matter. She's just someone who cares deeply about the lack of smart water resources in San Diego county and wants to spread the word to home-owners and city officials alike. It turns out the best way to do that, however, is by founding and operating the only rainwater catchment and greywater recycling company in Southern California. It's not a role she thought she'd find herself in, but the one she's undertaken since January 2009.

We've been following, and wearing, the work of David Rau and Josh Bertrand, two artists in Tampa, Florida, for many years, and have been intrigued by these guys who seem to make art, trouble, and great wallets, look effortless. We recently heard that Dave has dove in head-first to  make their company, Resist Today, succeed, and "to have full days to devote to making fine art, better products, independent web sites and collaborative projects with friends".
